Directions and Map

Come to MUS for a visit and experience our beautiful 94-acre campus and top-notch facilities firsthand. We encourage you to schedule a visit by calling the Admissions Office at (901) 260-1304. Please let us know if you would like to discuss financial aid during your visit.

When you come for your scheduled visit, check in at the Admissions Office. Enter the MUS campus at the Ridgeway/Primacy Parkway entrance. After the guard gate, turn right and follow the signs to Admissions. Enter the Campus Center under the "Welcome Visitors" sign. There is visitor parking in front of the entrance. Once inside, Admissions will be on the right.

Academic, Arts, and Student Life Facilities

When Memphis University School opened at Park and Ridgeway in 1955, it was surrounded by rolling hills and agricultural fields. The city has since grown to surround it, but the campus remains a 94-acre oasis, complete with old-growth woods threaded by a picturesque cross-country trail. The landscape and Georgian-architecture buildings provide a grand backdrop for learning, playing, and growing.

Dunavant Upper School

A stately U-shaped building surrounding beautiful Morrison Courtyard, houses English, language, math, and social studies classrooms; three computer labs; and the Kemmons Wilson Leadership Development and Counseling Center. Teacher offices adjoin many classrooms, facilitating tutoring sessions and student-teacher gatherings.

Humphreys Hall

Topped with our iconic cupola, Humphreys Hall houses administrative offices for Admissions, Business Operations, College Counseling, the Headmaster and Assistant Headmaster, Advancement, Development, Communications, and the Upper School.

The Campus Center

This multipurpose hub of activity encompasses our expansive Ingram Dining Hall and Alumni Terrace overlooking Stokes-Alston Stadium. The center also houses the Admissions Office, library services, Schaeffer Bookstore, Wunderlich Auditorium, and the Loeb Room.

Thomas Amphitheater

Shaded by cherry trees, the amphitheater features a stage and concrete risers, providing a welcoming open-air setting for Roman trigon tournaments, outdoor class meetings, and art projects.

McCaughan Science Center

This center houses laboratories and classrooms dedicated solely to the instruction of Upper School biology, microbiology, chemistry, geology, physics, forensics, robotics, materials science, and environmental science as well as Lower School earth and physical science. Our labs feature collegiate- and industrial-level equipment rarely available in high schools. We also have an Upper School Robotics Lab and Lower School Robotics Makerspace. The new arts and sciences building is expected to debut in 2027.

Hull Lower School

Home to our sixth, seventh, and eighth graders, Hull Lower School features classrooms and a computer lab surrounding the open Dunavant Lecture Hall. Here students attend assemblies throughout the week. The building also houses a Math Lab, English Lab, and Lower School administrative offices.

Schaeffer Bookstore

Just off Ingram Dining Hall, the bookstore offers books, school supplies, spirit wear, and Owl gear.

Morrison Courtyard

Through this busy heart of the Upper School, teachers and students cross between periods as they move from the English, math, and language halls and back and forth to Humphreys Hall. In the shade of ginkgo trees, boys often play chess, read books, or complete homework. It’s not unusual to see teachers holding class there or English students practicing their Marc Antony speeches on the plinth.

Fisher Fine Arts Wing

Located between Hyde Chapel and Thomas Amphitheater, this hub of creativity comprises art studios, the theater shop, Bloodworth Recording Studio, and arts faculty offices. The amphitheater stage expands the space, providing a setting for photography shoots and larger art and construction projects.

Bloodworth Studio

This professional-level recording facility has recently been updated with state-of-the-art equipment. It is home to the Recording Arts Program, Beg To Differ a cappella choir, and Studio Band.

Hyde Chapel

A campus icon since 1962, Hyde Chapel has been the setting for student assemblies for generations. With a stage that backs onto the theater shop, the chapel hosts the school’s plays, musicals, concerts, speakers, and other special meetings and events. A new Hyde Chapel will be part of the arts and sciences building, expected to be completed in 2027.
