Lower School - Curriculum
Academics
Lower School is where boys take their first steps toward academic excellence, leadership, and personal growth. In Grades 6-8, students learn to think critically, build strong study habits, and develop the character that defines an MUS man. Supported by faculty dedicated to teaching middle school, boys are well prepared for each new challenge. Along the way, they choose from a rich array of extracurricular opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom.
An Environment Built for Growth
The Lower School is more than an introduction to MUS – it is the foundation for future success.
Boys engage in a traditional, structured curriculum that includes math, science, language arts, history, technology, and the arts. Courses emphasize critical thinking, problem-solving, and study skills that ensure a smooth transition into the Upper School.
From daily assemblies in Dunavant Lecture Hall to leadership opportunities in student organizations, the Lower School instills values of honor, discipline, and accountability. Every boy is encouraged to take initiative, develop responsibility, and build confidence.
Lower School students are encouraged to explore clubs, academic competitions, and sports teams that challenge them both mentally and physically. Whether competing in the Math Team Scramble, joining the Robotics Club, or playing on an MUS athletic team, every student finds his place at MUS.
A Campus Designed for Young Scholars
